For this project, I was placed in the position of curator, art director, designer, and printer. Contexture is a concept art and literary magazine for James Madison University.

In publications that feature artwork and design, the core design and framework has to air on the side of aesthetic anonymity and minimalism so as to not intrude or overshadow the featured work. But, it has to do this beautifully.

A set of bold typographic styles were set for the page designs, with headings being a strong display sans serif and captions or body copy being a semi-opaque serif. Images were featured  full-bleed with the artists' names boldly above the imagery. Two selected artists were highlighted with a half sheet pop-out profile. Poetry and literature was illustrated with type explorations accentuating story elements.
