Invisible Cities Booklet
Based on a passage from Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino, a photographic exploration of Harrisonburg, Virginia, was conducted. Images were chosen to match specific concepts and themes from the readings. Themes and concepts demonstrated include height, restriction, dirt, absorption, and forgotennes.
I developed custom letterforms to serve as a title and echoed their use on the body pages. Letterforms were enlarged and used as masks for the photographs. This process created unique spreads that created engagements with the page previously not possible. In the end, while remaining subtle, these large elements made each spread dynamic and fresh, qualities often lacking from print spread design.
